Fallkirk Wheel

After a good nights rest we took the ferry from Brodick to the main land at Ardrossan. From there we would drive straight up to Kingsbarns. Along the way we would pass the Fallkirk wheel locks. The pictures on the web caught our attention and we planned a small detour to visit this.

The big rotating wheel is used to bring the small longboats 24 mtrs up and down..

While we waited for the wheel to make a rotation we enjoyed lunch.

After lunch it was on wards to Kingsbarns Distillery.
